Alma W. Compton, Sr. Alma W. Compton, Sr. was born in England on September 21, 1856. He and his siblings moved to Ogden, Utah in 1868, their parents joined them a year later. His opportunities for schooling were meager and he worked in a broom factory before apprenticing himself to Ogden photographer J.W. Christensen in 1882. Lorenzo Snow was born 3 April 1814 in Mantua, Ohio. After being baptized a member of the Church, he served a mission in Ohio and the Eastern States. He was ordained to the office of Seventy in 1840. He served as President of the United Order in Brigham City from 1874-1886. He was ordained an apostle in 1849, after which he served missions to England and Europe.
